Welcome to the memorial page for

Clara Catherine (Dick) Marconi

May 10, 1927 ~ August 12, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

CLARA  MARCONI

(1927-2017)

On August 12th, 2017, at the age of 90 years, we lost our family’s foundation and gem, Clara Catherine Marconi (nee Dick). She passed away peacefully in the Crowsnest Pass Hospital with family at her side.  Clara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, and sister who demonstrated unconditional love for all of us.  Clara was born on May 10th, 1927 in Burmis, Alberta to Joe and Ann Dick.

Clara is survived by her four devoted children: Connie Marrello (Tommy); Linda Kerr (Brian); Gordon (Bonnie-Jean); and Leland (Lorraine).  She has 17 special grandchildren & respective spouses (Anna, Greg, John, Amedeo, Fiona, Gordon, Angela, Marco, Carrie, Janet, Mark, Tobias, Tara, James, Vicky, Teaghan and Dale).  Her 14 great grandchildren were the delight of her life (Alexis, Mason, Francesca, Claire, Christian, Liam, Melena, Jack, Wyatt, Zoey, Mila, Bennett, Jupiter, and John).  Clara also had many nieces and nephews whom she was very proud of throughout her life.

Clara was pre-deceased by her husband of sixty-two years, Gordon (Toby) Marconi, her parents (Ann and Joe Dick), and her three sisters and brothers-in-law (Tessie & Lee Jacobson; Margaret & Leonard Nastasi and Isabel & Frank Girhiny), and her son-in-law, John Kerr.

Throughout and even after her 22 years as a Practical Nurse at Crowsnest Pass Hospital, she is still remembered by numerous patients for her dedication, kindness, diligent work, and empathy.  People  would continually walk up to her and thank her for delivering them into this world or helping them when they were ill.

To those of us who knew Clara well, she personified the ideal role model and she was a loyal, trustworthy friend. Clara developed many close, decades-long friendships and she always had time for tea, reminiscing, “gossiping” and, of course, laughter.  Clara’s home was always welcoming and warm, with bountiful food, and she embraced her new surroundings at the York Creek Lodge by making many new and wonderful friends with residents and staff.

Throughout her life, Clara was very busy with her numerous crafts and hobbies. She enjoyed painting scenes of her beloved Crowsnest Pass and many of her paintings still adorn the houses of her family and friends.  Her hands were never idle and her heart was always overflowing with love.

After having her hip replaced twice, Clara raised money for the Hip Hip Hooray cause.  She was charitable and always had a smile for someone and in her eyes, her family could do no wrong.

Towards the end, it was clear that Clara loved the Lord and she was ready to meet with her God. May she rest in the eternal peace she so deserves.

“Do not weep for me when I am gone.

Instead, look in to the eyes of my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren

And know that I am there.”

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to York Creek Lodge Residents Association (P. O. Box 1050, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0). As per Clara’s request, no funeral service will be held.   Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
