Mr. William Patrick McIntyre, formerly of Hillcrest, Alberta, was called to be with the Lord on May 1, 2014 while receiving care at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre in Blairmore. Bill was 71 years old.

Born on January 18, 1943 in Hillcrest, Alberta to parents, Gordon and Bessie McIntyre, Bill was always grateful for the opportunities this community had to offer. He attended grade school in the one-room school house in Frank and was top in his class at playing hooky. Bill loved to wander down to the Gold Creek Valley and pick off gophers and camp along the river. He enjoyed those moments by himself. Throughout his academic journey from grade school to University, he never felt that he quite fit into the normal mold and viewed the world in a unique way. His passion for reading and research allowed his philosophical self to explore the big questions in our world and he gained knowledge for the sake of knowledge but would only on occasion share it with others.

Bill married Mary Turner, a lady whom he admired, and they were blessed with four sons. He obtained his Level 3 National Soccer Coaching Certification and tried to conform to a traditional role. He became estranged from his family for many years but all the while continued to cherish them. Bill struggled with life’s challenges but recognized and used his shortcomings in trying to help others in similar circumstances. Bill donated his body for medical study to advance research and knowledge. With a dry and original sense of humour, Bill made us laugh and often take a deeper look inside ourselves – he was an amazing man and will be dearly missed.

“All the world is insane but me and thee,

however, sometimes I have doubts about thee!”

He is survived by his children, Stephen, Thomas, Daniel and Christopher; his brother, Bob McIntyre, niece, Kathy McIntyre and nephew, Bill McIntyre of Smithers, BC; his former wife, Mary; his life-friends, Bill & Belle Kovach and their family that truly treasured their years with him; and his extended family and fond acquaintances.

The Memorial Mass celebrating Bill’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Blairmore, AB with Fr. Ben Marino as Celebrant.
