About Fantin's Funeral Chapel

A Legacy of Trust in the Crowsnest Pass

We are honoured to serve the communities of the Crowsnest Pass, Pincher Creek and the surrounding area. As an award-winning funeral home, we are often asked to serve families throughout Alberta and British Columbia, and we hold ourselves to the high standards and ethics this work demands. What we do is important, and the families we serve deserve our best.

Our Story

Over the decades our community has been served by several funeral professionals, each dedicated to exceptional service and compassion. The first owner of the funeral home was Jack Hall, who sold the business to Frank Eden of Pincher Creek. In 1963 Ernie and Anne Fantin bought it from Frank Eden, and they ran Fantin’s Funeral Chapel for more than thirty years.

In 1995 Service Corporation International bought the chapel from Ernie and Anne, and Ernie stayed on until he retired in 1997. Darrell Sydora joined the chapel in 1996 and became its manager after Ernie’s retirement; in 2007 Darrell and Moo Sydora bought the business and served the community in its time of need for many years.

Today Fantin’s Funeral Chapel is a division of The Caring Group, a family of locally rooted funeral homes in Alberta. Among them is Edens Funeral Home in Pincher Creek, carrying on the name of the same Frank Eden who once owned this chapel, and Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels in Lethbridge, where our own Shane Collett began his career in 1989.

Being part of The Caring Group gives us the backing of a larger organization, but the chapel is still run here, by people who live here. Managing Director Sheila-Rae Olivieri is a lifelong resident of the Crowsnest Pass and has been with Fantin’s since 2013. Sheila-Rae and the team are proud to continue Fantin’s legacy of trust, and are here to give you and your family the best help we can in your time of need.
