It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Howard Bennett of Bellevue, Alberta. Howard was called to be with the Lord on December 12, 2013 while receiving care at the Crowsnest Pass Heath Care Center. He was 83 years of age.

Howard was born on February 7, 1930 to proud parents William and Ethel Bennett. Howard was raised with a great appreciation for family, community and any task well done. Howard married Doreen Mae Curry, and the couple was blessed with four loving children, Patti Ann, Barbie Lynn, Sherri-Lee and Dean.

Howard enjoyed many things in life including working on cars, carpentry, camping, hunting and fishing in the Crowsnest Pass and dancing anywhere there was music. Howard was also an avid sports fan. Not only did he play baseball and hockey, but he also coached the “Bellevue Buffalos” hockey team, Old Timers’ hockey and mens’ baseball. In addition to his many other commitments, Howard was a devoted member of the Masons, served on Town Council for over 20 years and sat on the Old Man River Planning Commission. Howard was a wonderful and caring person and he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Sherri-Lee (Wayne) Rosia of Cochrane, AB and Dean (Eileen Gettman) Bennett of Bellevue, AB; his son-law, Dennis Amos of Blairmore, AB; his grandchildren, Lanny (Kim) Amos, Sharla (Sean) Bell, Tanner (Danielle) Rosia, Nick Rosia, Trent Bennett, Cole Bennett, Brad Burton and Amy-Lynn Gettman; great grandchildren, Logan and Taylor Amos, Easton and Ryder Bell, Jayla Burton and Rylee Stedman; his niece, numerous nephews and many friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Doreen Mae; his parents, William and Ethel; his daughters, Patti Ann and Barbie Lynn; and his sister, Doris Richards.
