Mr. Walter Fuchs, formerly of the Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, passed away on June 2, 2015 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre at the age of 83 years.
Walter was born on February 5, 1932 in Tilsit, Germany to parents, Bruno and Erna Fuchs. His childhood had many challenges due to the war and its aftermath and his eventual immigration to Canada provided him with opportunities that he never took for granted. He was raised with a hard work ethic and a devotion to family.
As an earnest young man, Walter found the love of his life, Marline Isabelle Hansen, and they were married and blessed with six children. He was an excellent provider and role model to his family and toiled most of his life in the coalmines as a Fireboss.
He enjoyed traveling to Cuba and several other exotic locations, boating, watching pro-wrestling, playing cards (especially cribbage) and billiards at the Coleman Seniors’ Drop-In Centre, and every precious moment with his wife and family. A gallant and caring man who was kind to animals, hard working with a stoic and firm character, Walter will be forever fondly admired and remembered. May he rest in peace in the arms of our Lord with his beloved departed wife, Marline.
He is survived by his children, Wendy Fuchs of Coleman, Wayne (Leona) Fuchs of McKenzie, BC, Monica (Clay) Wolsey of Vernon, BC, Karen (Doug) Lowes of Cranbrook, BC and Richard (Kazuyo) Fuchs of Yokohama, Japan; his grandchildren, Christina (Brad) Botrakoff, Nicholas (Sophia) Fuchs, Curtis Fuchs, Mitchell Wolsey, Rachel Wolsey, Liam Lowes and Quinn Lowes; his great grandchildren, Cameron, Mikayla, Carter and Chloe; his brother, Artur Fuchs of Edmonton, AB; his sisters, Christa (John) Krykwo of Morinville, AB and Rosie (Andy) Bordush of Edmonton, AB; and his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marline Fuchs; his infant son, Timothy Fuchs; his parents, Bruno & Erna Fuchs; and his sister, Trudy Atamanchuk.
