In memory of
THOMAS SUDWORTH
(1920-2013)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Makin Sudworth of Coleman, Alberta. Tom passed away peacefully on January 11, 2013 during his stay at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre in Blairmore at the age of 92 years.
Tom was a determined and focused man with tremendous inner fortitude. He stood fast for what he believed in and for those in need. He answered the call to defend our country’s freedoms and during World War II, Tom served overseas in Europe with the Canadian Army.
Tom married Olga Nimcan on May 3, 1947 and was blessed with a family whom he treasured. He continued to serve this community through his participation with several organizations and charitable groups. He was a member of the Masons, Elks, Lions and a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 9 in Coleman. He was unique and interesting gentleman, an inspiration to his family and friends, and will be dearly missed.
Tom is survived by his wife of 66 years, Olga; his children, Lynda (Don), Arlene, Jackie, David (Jackie); his many grandchildren and great grandchildren; extended family and the many friends he made throughout his lifetime.
A Celebration honouring Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the Coleman Legion (7831-17 Ave.) with Rev. Nicky Keyworth and Mr. Bill Roughead officiating. Tributes will be presented by members of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Masonic Lodge and members of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 1731-29 Street SW, Calgary, AB T3C 1M6. Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
