In loving memory
Susanna “Joy” Aris
1929-2013
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Joy Aris, who was called to be with the Lord on May 21, 2013 at the age of 84 years.
Joy was born on March 2, 1929 in Carstairs, Alberta to Arthur and Christena Umbach. She was raised with a great appreciation for family, friends and life’s simple blessings. Joy grew to be a lovely and gentle young lady who captured the heart of a charming man, Walter William Aris. They pledged their love in holy matrimony on May 22, 1948 and were further blessed with a loving family of seven children.
Joy enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, cooking special meals for family and friends, the Bellecrest Seniors’ Association and volunteering countless hours of her time at the Bellevue Legion of which she was a lifetime member. Joy was a loving, kind and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her family takes comfort in the many warm memories of special occasions spent together and in faith that Joy is at peace in the arms of the Lord.
She is survived by her loving sons, Brian (Wendy) Aris of Langdon, AB, Albert (Debbie) Aris of Edmonton, AB, Terry (Susan) Aris of Lundbreck, AB and Kevin (Kathy) Aris of Calgary, AB; her loving daughters, Lil (Keith) Wells of Calgary, AB and Linda (Glenn) Lea of Calgary, AB; her grandchildren, Michael, Paul, Leigh, Quinn, Nathan, Stephen, Megan Aris and Vanessa Lea; her great grandchildren Aurora, Adeline, Owen, Ariana and Theadore Aris; nieces and nephews including Judith, Gerald, Christina, Erik and Kenneth Umbach and Roth Hoover; and her extended family including Tammie Wilson and family and Donna Dolman and family; as well as the many friends she made throughout her lifetime. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter William Aris and her precious son, Roy Aris.
Her family will honour Joy’s life with a Funeral Service on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Fantin's Funeral Chapel in Blairmore, Alberta with interment to follow at the Blairmore Union Cemetery with Rev. Janni Belgum officiating.
