ROSE MARIE BACK
(1933-2013)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Marie Back of Lundbreck, Alberta on April 21, 2013 at her residence at the age of 79 years.
Rose was born on December 1, 1933 in Calgary, Alberta to proud parents, James Ingram and Sarah Richardson. Rose was raised on a farm in Orion until her early teen years where she attended the convent through her grade 11 in Medicine Hat.
She grew to be a lovely young woman and she captured the heart of a handsome young gentleman, Wallace Pickett. They married in April of 1952 and were blessed with six lovely children. Their marriage ended in 1965. Following the divorce, Rose moved to Medicine Hat where she found love once more with a charming gentleman, George Back. They operated several confectionaries and enjoyed serving the people of Redcliff and Seba Beach.
Rose was a quiet, loving, kind, generous and caring person who never forgot to send her family cards on birthdays and holidays. Her talents were many: she excelled at needlework, knitting, puzzles, and she was ambidextrous (both left and right-handed, she had beautiful handwriting). Rose also loved to read and watch her television shows. She treasured her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her devotion to her pets was an example of her generous and kindly character.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life include her loving sons, Wally Pickett Jr., of Medicine Hat, Jesse Pickett, James (Edna) Pickett, Warren (Laura) Pickett, all of Lethbridge, and her loving daughter Agnes (Jim) Duce of Medicine Hat; her precious grandchildren, Teri (Russ) Weinrauch and Brad Duce of Medicine Hat; her treasured great grandchildren, Kylie, Mason and Kenyan; and her step-great grandchildren, Colton, Kirstyn, Hannah and Grayson, all of Medicine Hat, and her four special furry friends the kitties: Sweetie, Cutie, Snowball and Ginger; as well as her extended family and the many friends she made throughout her lifetime.
A Graveside Funeral Service was held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Cowley Cemetery where Rose was laid to rest beside her late husband, George. Pastor Al Robinson officiated.
