In loving memory
ROMAN REDER
(1934-2013)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Mr. Roman Peter Reder of Bellevue, Alberta who was called to be with the Lord on April 18, 2013 while receiving care at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre at the age of 78 years.
Roman was born on September 22, 1934 in Sitaniec, Poland to Edward and Veronica Reder. The war created unspeakable hardships for his family and the people of Poland; their family immigrated to Canada where Roman was educated and gained employment with the mines. His immense stature and strength made him a valuable employee and he occasionally worked as a “bouncer” for some of the local taverns.
Roman was a unique man with unusual notions. He was interesting to talk to and he enjoyed talking to people. An avid coffee-time patron, he sat visiting with friends as often as he could. He also loved to drive the countryside, donate to various religious charities or projects, games of chance and time well spent with his family. Roman appreciated the simple pleasures of this life and although he had his share of trials and challenges, he was good hearted and caring. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend and we shall miss him dearly.
He is survived by his devoted sister, Maria (Kaz) Farfus of Bellevue; his nephews, Walter (Judy) Farfus of Blairmore, George Farfus of Lethbridge and Richard (Rose) Farfus of Coleman; and his extended family and numerous friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward & Veronica Reder.
With respect for Roman’s final wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. A Memorial Mass will be announced at a later date. Your condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca and donations in memory may be made to the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church Building Fund, PO Box 1410, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0.
