It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Palmer Keyworth of Coleman, Alberta. Beloved husband of Nicky Keyworth, Palmer lived a full and wonderful life - working hard and always ready to help others. He graciously volunteered countless hours over the years in St. Luke’s Anglican Church, the Lions service club, the Special Olympics and other community organizations. Born in Thetford, Norfolk, England in 1930, the oldest child of Francis & Florence Keyworth, Palmer followed his farming roots to America in 1957,where he worked on the E.L. Peterson ranch in Judith Gap, Montana, where he forged a life-long friendship with his “American family”. Moving to Canada, Palmer gained work in the construction industry: Lynn Lake, Creston-Salmo Pass, Jasper, Fort McMurray, to mention just a few job sites. In 1973, he was the evening supervisor for Mannix on the Tent Mountain project where he sustained a broken jaw in a bad accident. It was during his hospital stay where he met his future wife, Nicky. He formed his own contracting business in Calgary and his impressive copper roof on the Orthodox church north of Memorial Drive can still be seen today. In 1986, Palmer married and moved back to the Crowsnest Pass. He started a roofing business, Adval Roof, and his work, which later extended to decking, can be seen all over the community. In spite of a heart attack in 2000, Palmer kept up his work ethic, preferring to work outdoors in all weather on any roof. He also found great joy in showing visitors our beautiful part of the world and hosted two reunions with his tour group of American friends. A kind person and a good man, Palmer will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Palmer is survived by his loving wife, Nicky; brothers, John and David; sister, Richenda Smith, all of England; his extended family as well as the many friends he made throughout his lifetime. May he rest in peace. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11 am at Grace Anglican United Church (13307-20 Avenue, Blaimore, Alberta).
