It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ottavio Colucci at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre on September 4, 2015 at the age of 93 years.
Ottavio was born in Italy on April 30, 1922 to proud parents Filomena and Emilio Colucci. Along with his siblings, he was raised to have a strong work ethic and to appreciate all of life’s blessings. When he was a young man, Ottavio met the love of his life, Maria Durante, and the happy couple was joined in holy matrimony on September 20, 1948. They raised a beautiful family and made countless wonderful memories over the course of their fifty-seven year marriage.
Ottavio loved being outdoors. He spent many contented hours tending his garden (including his prized potato patch), walking in the beautiful woods surrounding the Crowsnest Pass and mushroom picking. He could also often be found watching wrestling on television or making delicious homemade wine and sausage. Ottavio enjoyed a good game of horseshoes and playing cards with his dear friends, the Marras and the Castellarins. He hated to lose, though, so he was known to influence the game in his favour on occasion! Ottavio was a hard-working family man who always put his loved ones first. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his children, Vince (Tina) Colucci, Joe (Denise) Colucci, Bruno (Lori) Colucci, Pam Tschritter, Laura (Bob) Edwards and Giulia (Nick) Cartwright; his grandchildren, Sabrina (Mario), Jeremy (Megan), Keith (Dan), Greg (Tiffany), Shaun (Felicia), Joel (Sarah), Jason (Kristen), Tyler, Lisa (Rob), Treena, Tracey (Steve), Ryan and Nicole (Tanner); eleven great grandchildren; and the many friends he made throughout his life.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maria; his parents, Filomena and Emilio; his brother, Dominic; and his sisters, Antonietta and Elda.
The Prayer Service will be held at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Blairmore, AB on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 7:30pm, and the Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Blairmore, AB on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 11:00am with Fr. Ben Marino as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Blairmore Catholic Cemetery.
