It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Murray Lewis Barlow at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre on September 20, 2015 at the age of 56 years.
Murray was born in Vermillion, AB on January 25, 1959 to proud parents, Hendrika and Dean Barlow. In the summer of 1961, his family relocated to the Crowsnest Pass. There, he enjoyed a carefree childhood and grew into a hardworking young man. He started working at the young age of 16 at the Phillips Cable with his mom and then later entered the workforce as an equipment operator. Over the years he logged countless hours all over Alberta and British Columbia and at the mines building roads and leases. In addition to a fulfilling career, he was blessed with two beautiful children, Jamie in 1982 and Tyler in 1983.
In his free time, Murray could be found gardening, golfing, skiing or watching movies. He was also an excellent cook. Anyone lucky enough to taste his bread knew that he had good reason to be especially proud of it. Above all else, Murray was a family man. He loved his children, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews unconditionally and always stayed close to them. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his special friend, Gloria Rosner; his daughter, Jamie (Tyler) Newman; his son, Tyler (Robin Leonard) Barlow; his grandchildren, Abby and Logan Newman; his brother, Terry (Char) Barlow; his sisters, Lynn (Barry) Earl and Shelley (Rory) Ingram; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Hendrika " Ricky" McNeil; his father, Dean Barlow; and his stepfather, Alexander “Red” McNeil.
A Gathering of Family and Friends was held at the Bellevue Inn, Bellevue, AB on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Donations in memory of Murray will be gratefully accepted by the Heart and Stroke Foundation (207 – 542, 7 St. S., Lethbridge, AB T1J 2H1).
