It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mervin Roy Shafer of Bellevue, Alberta on December 6, 2015 at home with his family beside him at the age of 85 years.
Mervin was born on December 18, 1929 in Blairmore, Alberta to loving parents, John & Irene Shafer, long time residents of the Crowsnest Pass. Mervin’s heart was always and will remain in the Pass where he was an avid outdoors man, who enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. Whatever Mervin did he did it well. He was quick witted, honest and always willing to lend a helping hand. He was meticulous with a strong work ethic. He worked as a heavy duty mechanic for Mannix, Anderson, Finning and Nohels. After retirement, he enjoyed wood working and left us many beautiful teasures.
He was married to the love of his life Jeanie for over 65 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life:his loving wife Jeanie; his sons Roy(Kerry) and Wayne (Irene); his daughter Dalyce (Jerry) Myette; his grandchildren Clinton, Kent, Mark, Katrina, Derek, and Adam; several great grandchildren; his sister Kay Pitt of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews and the many friends he made throughout his lifetime.
