In Loving Memory of
MAUREEN QUINTILIO
(1923 – 2012)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs.
Maureen Quintilio, beloved wife of the late Joseph Quintilio, at the Crowsnest Pass Hospital on September 2nd, 2012, at the age of 89 years.
Maureen was born on June 20, 1923, to Daniel and Cathrine (née Bell) McLellan in Coleman, Alberta. She grew up with the companionship of three sisters and one brother. At the age of 24, Maureen married the love-of-her-life, Joe Quintilio, on July 17, 1947 and they were soon blessed with their only child Craig.
Maureen taught Sunday School at the United Church for several years in Bellevue and worked tirelessly for many years as a volunteer in the Bellevue library. She loved to work in her flower garden and was especially good at keeping the weeds out of her lawn. Needlepoint and knitting gave her much pleasure. A fabulous mother-in-law and a devoted Grandma, of her it could be said with conviction by her loved ones: “They just don’t come better!”
Maureen is survived by her son Craig (Laura); her three wonderful grandsons: Mark (Mary), Chris (Amanda), and Joe (Rhiannon); her seven great grandchildren: Abi, Jack, Olivia, Sam, Joseph, Ryan and Lexi; her sisters Kathleen Ross and Margaret Ford; her sister-in-law Kay McLellan and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Maureen was predeceased by her parents Daniel and Cathrine, her sister Mamie (and brother-in-law Hector), her brother Hughie, and brothers-in-law Norman Ford and Doug Ross.
The memorial service celebrating Maureen’s life was held at Fantin’s Funeral Home, Blairmore, on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Gardiner officiating.
