It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Marguerite Suca of Blairmore who left this world on June 21, 2014 while receiving emergency care at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. She was 89 years of age.
Mary was born on May 6, 1925 in Kluknava, Gelnici, Slovakia to parents Joseph and Mary Suca. Together with her sister, Helen, the family immigrated to Canada in 1929 and settled in the Burmis area of Alberta.
Mary proudly received her Bachelor of Education Degree at the University of Alberta in 1959. Mary loved teaching children and later in her career accepted the position of vice-principal at the M.D. McEachern School in Bellevue. She inspired many young minds and was grateful for the opportunity to mold the future leaders of our community.
In her younger years, Mary also enjoyed playing softball, badminton, Suduko puzzles and square dancing. She and her sister traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Morocco, Slovakia, Florida and Central Europe. They were inseparable and our consideration and support is extended to Helen at this difficult time. We would also like to thank the emergency care providers who aided Mary at the time of her accident – your care and compassion were exemplary.
Mary is survived by her loving sister, Helen Mary Suca of Blairmore, AB, her extended family in Slovakia and the many friends she had made throughout the lifetime. She was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Mary Suca.
