It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret McGowan at the Chinook Regional Hospital on February 24, 2016 at the age of 82 years.
Margaret was born in Sunderland, England to loving parents, Ernest and Margaret Warnaby. Along with her siblings, she was raised to be a caring and kind individual. When she was a young woman, Margaret made the journey to Canada with her young family, arriving on August 7, 1967. It was there she met Barry McGowan, and the happy couple married on July 31, 1981. Margaret relocated to the Crowsnest Pass on Valentine’s Day, 2003 and enjoyed her retirement in its splendor.
Margaret had many interests including bowling and tending her garden, especially her beloved roses, and her generous spirit was evident in the many hours she spent volunteering at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre and in the community. Her compassion, honesty and determined, feisty personality will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her daughters, Cheryl (Trevor) Wyatt of Victoria, BC and Lynn (Rob) Palmer of Millbay, BC; her son, John (Terry) Palmer of Bellevue, AB; her grandchildren, Kristen, Kelsey, Jerrid, Jake, Sidney and Lindsey; her great grandchild, Chelsea; her siblings, Ernie, Joan and Shirley all of the UK; as well as her extended family and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Barry McGowan and her parents, Margaret and Ernest Warnaby.
With respect for Margaret’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation (P. O.
