It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Ford (nee: McLellan) who was called to be with the Lord on November 29, 2014 at the age of 82 years.

Margaret was born on October 13, 1932 in Coleman, Alberta to proud parents Dan and Catherine McLellan. Tragedy struck Margaret when she was only two years old when her mother died. Her father, having to provide for her four older siblings and working the hazardous jobs in the underground coalmines, entrusted young Margaret to a caring family, David & Julia Gentile of Coleman. Her life had many challenges with the Gentile’s shoe business burning down in a town fire of 1948 and luxuries were few, but her resilient and determined character allowed her to overcome life’s challenges and she blossomed into a kind and lovely young lady. She married Norman Alfred Ford and was further blessed with three sons. She loved caring for her boys and supporting them in all of their endeavors including hockey, school work and later with their own families. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family and friends. She also enjoyed bowling, reading and singing for which she was quite talented. Margaret lived her life by the Golden Rule where she treated everyone how she herself would like to be treated. She was a wonderful person who we will all fondly remember and dearly miss.

She is survived by her sons, Wayne (Brenda) Ford of Calgary, Norman (Val) Ford Jr. of Sparwood and Glen (Nina) Ford of Blairmore; her grandchildren, Kari (Richard) Bird, Heather (Eric) Erickson, Matt (Chrissy) Ford, Jesse Ford, Emmalee Ford and Alyson Ford; her great grandchildren, April, Bryce, Billy, Isaac, Avery, Hailey, Ben, Maci and Ella; her sister, Kathleen Ross of Blairmore; and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman Ford Sr., her parents, Dan and Catherine McLellan; and her siblings, Hughie McLellan, Maureen Quintillio and Mamie MacDonald.

With respect for Margaret’s final wishes, no funeral services will be held. Donations in memory may be made to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation.
