It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leonard Charles Ockey of the Coleman, Alberta who passed away peacefully in the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre on May 27, 2015 at the age of 68 years.

Len was born on March 11, 1947 in Calgary, Alberta to Lourain and Anna Ockey. He was a gentle man with a strong work ethic and compassionate nature. Len won the affection of a beautiful and kind lady, June Lorraine Kenney, and they raised their families with unconditional love and devotion. He was a talented carpenter and generous friend. He was a humble man who enjoyed fishing, camping, quading, boating, watching sports and working on computers. Len’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren. Although he is now gone from our eyes, he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by his parents Lorne and Anna Mary Ockey; his devoted wife June Ockey; his loving children, Carmen Kenney-Koinberg, Kim Benoit, Garry Kenney, Chad (Jen) Ockey, Darcy (Tara) Ockey, Lorne (Stephanine Berry) Ockey, and Jamie (Virginia) Ockey; his grandchildren, Jade, Katelynn, Justice, Kayden, Brennon, Jaden, Tyler, Amanda, Jessie, Kyle, Anthony, Brad, Colin, Mckenzie, Sara, Krista, Quintin, Kristine, Kaiden, Alicia; his great grandchildren, Catherine, Gabriel and Trevor; his brothers, Ron (Judy) Ockey and Tracy (Denise) Ockey; his sister, Arlette (Mark) Stone; as well as his extended family and numerous friends.

With respect for the family’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.

God Saw You Getting Tired

God saw you getting tired,

And a cure was not to be.

So he put his arms around you

And whispered, “Come to Me.”

With tearful eyes we watched you,

And saw you pass away.

Although we loved you dearly,

We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,

Hard-working hands at rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us,

He only takes the best
