It is with profound sadness that we announce that Lawrence Joseph Erickson of Blairmore, AB passed away on April 7, 2016 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre. He celebrated 90 years of life.
Lawrence was born on March 14,1926 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to proud parents Alvin and Anna Erickson. He was raised with a sense of pride in himself and for his country and served as a Merchant Marine during WWII and a Quarter Master on the ships traveling from Vancouver to Alaska. Lawrence’s greatest battle was winning the heart of a lovely young lady, Marjorie Derkson. They were married on August 31,1944 and were blessed with five wonderful daughters. They celebrated 68 years of their life together. Lawrence was a devoted husband and father and his family meant everything to him.
An all around handy man, Lawrence built and designed four homes. He loved hunting, fishing and holidays in Hawaii, but most of all, he loved his girls which he called his winning team. We will miss his generous nature and selfless devotion but he will be fondly remembered by all who knew him well.
He is survived by his children, Dianne Erickson, Vicki (Dan) Mulligan, Bonnie (Randy) Bogen, Debbie Jervis and Margo (Rick) Klymchuk; his grandchildren, Larry (Tiffany) Smith, Tammie (Bob) Wilson, Ronda McLean, Lance Letain, Harlan Jervis, Amanda (Dave) Krembil, Chelsey Klymchuk and Kyle Klymchuk; his great grandchildren, Amanda Smith, David Smith, Jesse McLean, Scott McLean, Lauren Krembil, Noah Klymchuk; his great-great grandchild, Hunter Smith; his brother, Ken Erickson; and his sister, Daisy-Jean Spurgeon.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marjorie Erickson; his parents, Alvin and Anna Erickson; his siblings, Edward Erickson, Walt Erickson, Al Erickson, Ruth Erickson and Mabel Brooks.
With respect for Lawrence’s final wishes, no funeral services will be held honouring his life. Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Alzimers’ Society (402, 740-4 Avenue S., Lethbridge, AB T1J 0N9). Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
