JOSEPHINE STOKLOSA
(nee: Blasiak)
(1916 -2014)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Josephine Stefania Stoklosa, who succumbed to a brief illness at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre at the glorious age of 98 years.
Josephine was born on June 19, 1916 in Babice, Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1938. This incredible journey brought her to the Crowsnest Pass where she married Joseph Stoklosa. They were blessed with seven children, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren who have added to their legacy.
“Josie” enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking for family and friends, and shopping at the local Sobeys grocery store because of the clerks friendly greeting of “Hi Sweetheart” whereby she would always playfully tease them. She was well known for her witty humour, charismatic personality and incredible memory for someone gifted with so many years. She was an active member of the Bellecrest Senior Citizen’s organization for many years. It was only about ten months ago that she left her home in Bellevue to reside at the York Creek Lodge where she found great pleasure visiting with and being cared for by the devoted staff as well as her two daughters, Helen and Eleanor and family.
She recently began losing her sight and her overall health due to her advanced years but she never diminished in her sparkling character, her love for her family and friends and her kind and generous nature. She will be greatly missed and forever admired.
She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Joseph (Janina) Stoklosa of Burnaby, BC, Sophie (Douglas) Wilson of Calgary, Stanley Stoklosa of Pincher Creek, Anthony (Gail) Stoklosa of the Crowsnest Pass, Helen Poulton of the Crowsnest Pass, Louise Makky of Calgary and Eleanor Stoklosa of Hosmer, BC; her grandchildren, Angela, Natalie, Rachel, Gregory, Curtis, Mark and Kevin; her great grandchildren, Justin, Jaxon and John; her little brother of 93 years, Tomaz Blasiak of Poland; her numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and her dear friend Jurgen Heilmann.
Josie was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Stoklosa; infant son John Stoklosa; her parents; her nine siblings; and her two sons-in law, Robert Poulton and Julius Makky.
The Funeral Mass honouring Josephine’s life was held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Blairmore with Fr. Ben Marino Celebrant. Interment followed at the Bellevue Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Greg Makky, Curtis Makky, Kevin Stoklosa, Mark Goble, Michael Blasiak and Mark Stoklosa.
Donations in memory of the late Josephine Stoklosa may be made to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation, PO Box 2211, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4K7.
