With heavy hearts we announce that John Charles Ellison of Frank, AB passed away peacefully at home on September 26, 2026. He was 82 years of age.
John was born February 17, 1944, in Calgary, AB to parents Ralph and Jennie Ellison. His youth was spent having adventures with his older brother, Winn and his friends. Throughout his entire life John enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his sons. He also enjoyed carpentry with his brother, Winn building houses in British Columbia. After working at Philips Cable for many years as a foreman, John became a ticketed millwright there. He then worked for Atlas Lumber until his retirement. Countless happy hours were spent with his dog, Charlie, and he aways looked forward to Tuesday breakfasts with Dennis Amos, Tom Woodward and other friends. John was a kind, private person who could always be counted on. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his wife of twenty-one years, Judy (Née: Elward); his sons, Richard (Barb), Brian and Terry (Dawn); his stepchildren, Darren (Arlene), Laura (Mario) and Michael (Crystal); eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; his extended family and many good friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Jennie Ellison, and his brother, Winn Ellison.
With respect for John’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Alzheimer Society (www.alzheimer.ca) or charity of your choice. Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
