It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ian Beckett of Coleman, Alberta who on February 26, 2015 at the age of 47 years passed away within the comforts of his home.

John Christopher Beckett was born on October 15, 1967 in Paisley, Scotland to proud parents, John and Janet Beckett. At a young age, Ian and his mother immigrated to Canada to seek prosperity and a new life. He attended the Crowsnest Consolidated High School and continued to further his education and training in Brick Laying and several areas within the Construction trade. He was an entrepreneur who began his own business and with determination and courage, worked many years around this community and learned many of life’s lessons through his successes and failures. Ian was an extremely friendly and caring man, who was devoted to his mother as well as enjoying many an hour socializing with his friends. He also had a passion for fishing, billiards, and toasting each special occasion. He was a man of quiet character and a heart of gold. May he find peace.

Grief is the last act of love we can give to those we truly loved

and where there is deep grief, there was great love.

He is survived by his loving mother, Janet Beckett of Coleman, Alberta; his extended family in Scotland; and the many friends he made throughout his lifetime. He was predeceased by his father, John Beckett and his uncle, Matt Thompson.

With respect for Ian’s wishes, there will be no funeral and his remains will be interred in Scotland at the later date. Donations in memory will be gratefully accepted by S.T.A.R.S Air Ambulance (1441 Aviation Park NE Box 570, Calgary, AB T2E 8M7). Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
