Helen Hopkins
(1930-2012)
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Helen Hopkins, at the age of 82 years. She gracefully departed this world surrounded by her loving family, at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on December 4th, 2012.
Helen was born on September 19th, 1930 in Hillcrest, Alberta to James and Elaine Berze. She was a happy addition to the family and was welcomed by her older sister Marie. In 1948, she met the love of her life, John Hopkins, and they married in 1951 and continued their lives together.
Helen was a loving, beautiful and gentle soul who loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Throughout Helen’s life, she enjoyed owning and caring for her horses, dogs and cats. Helen worked for years at the Thompson’s Clothing Store and later as a courier for the Municipality of the Crowsnest Pass until her retirement. She also ran the Coleman Arena Concession for many years. Helen loved playing Lions’ Bingo on Tuesday nights and spent many treasured moments with the Pythian Sisters of Coleman where she earned her Life Time Membership status. Helen was an amazing Grandmother who was extremely blessed to have three great grandchildren who were the light of her life.
Left to celebrate her life are her children, John (Marion) Hopkins and Jim (Val) Hopkins all of Coleman; her grandchildren, Shane Hopkins of Coleman, Melinda (Ryan) Wabick of Calgary; great grandchildren, Kierra, John Thomas and Hunter Wabick of Calgary; her sister, Marie Clark of Calgary and step-brother, Bobby (Elaine) Berze of Burnaby ,BC; her niece, Sandra Anderson of Calgary and extended family. Helen was predeceased by her mother Elaine and father James, and husband John.
No Funeral Service will be held at Helen’s and her family’s request.
