It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Geraldine Margaret Gettman, formerly of Coleman, Alberta, who passed away peacefully at the age of 77 years at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre in Blairmore.
Geraldine was born on October 2, 1936 in Coleman, Alberta, the only child of loving parents, Gerald & Mary Clarke. She was raised with an immense appreciation for family. She grew to be a lovely and gracious young lady who won the heart of a kind and charismatic young man, Albert “Skip” Gettman. They were married on December 1, 1956 and celebrated fifty-four years of marriage until Skip’s passing in 2010.
Blessed with an adoring family of her own, Geraldine found great pleasure in family camping trips, gatherings where she could bake her special treats and cheering for her children in all their hobbies and interests. She was a proud grandmother, a former member of the Royal Purple, an avid reader and a devoted wife. Geraldine lived a full and wonderful life and throughout it all she learned that true happiness and contentment is gained from treating all those around you with the same caring and respect that you yourself wish to receive. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
She leaves to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life her precious family: her children, Wayne (Darlene) Gettman of Coleman, Cammie Morgan of Taber and Gary Gettman of Coleman; her grandchildren, Mitchell, Shantell, Amy and Justin; as well as the many friends she made throughout her lifetime.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert “Skip” Gettman; her son, Richard Allan Gettman; and her parents, Gerald Clarke and Mary Clarke (nee: Watson).
With respect for Geraldine’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. Donations may be made to S.T.A.R.S. Air Ambulance, 1441 Aviation Park NE, Box 570, Calgary, AB T2E 8M7. Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
