It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emily Fisher at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre on September 4, 2015 at the age of 90 years.
Emily was born on February 23, 1925 in Bellevue, AB to proud parents, Anna and Joseph Koran. She grew into a lovely young woman who captured the heart of a handsome gentleman, James Fisher. The two wed, and went on to create a warm and loving home together.
Emily had many hobbies and interests including tending her garden and beautiful flower beds, crocheting, playing bingo and watching Lawrence Welk, her soaps, and a variety of game shows on television. She also enjoyed having coffee with friends at the Wild Rose Confectionary and attending Strawberry Teas. Emily was a wonderful cook and baker who made sure no one in her family, or the neighborhood, ever went hungry. She also took great pride in keeping a meticulous home. Emily was an avid volunteer and an active member of many clubs such as the Maplevue Hall Society, the Eastern Stars, the Bellevue Seniors’ Club and the Bellevue Curling Club where she amassed many trophies. Perhaps most notably, she was a long-time member of the Bellevue Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary for which she recently received her 60-year pin. Emily was well known for her great sense of humour and fun-loving personality, as well as her amazing sense of style. Above all else, Emily adored her family. Her unconditional love was evident in every moment spent with them and in every deed done for them. Her kind, generous spirit will be missed terribly and she will remain in our hearts forever.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her son, Ken (Eileen) Fisher of Hillcrest Mines, AB; her grandchildren, Vicki (Ron) Yeske, Tim Fisher, Jody (Rob Venier) Fisher and Shane (Tara Spearns) Fisher; her great grandchildren, James, Jeremy (Anna), Kendal and Charlie James; her great-great grandchildren, Chase and Olivia; her sister-in-law, Jean (Merv) Shafer of Bellevue, AB; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; as well as the many friends she made throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Fisher; her parents, Anna and Joseph; her brothers, Jerry and Laddie (Margaret); and her sisters, Annie (Tony) Bugajski and Mary (Vince) Loula.
The Memorial Service will be held at Fantin’s Funeral Chapel in Blairmore, AB on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 1:00pm with Pastor Al Robinson officiating.
