With sadness we announce the passing of Donald “Don” Charles Townsend of Blairmore, AB on September 4, 2026, at the Chinook Regional Hospital, Lethbridge, AB. He was 84 years of age.
Don was born on October 10, 1941, in Coleman, AB to parents, Charles and Emilie Townsend. His love of the outdoors led him to a career as an environmentalist and to a life-long passion for fly-fishing. A man of many talents, Don played guitar for various country-western bands over the years, as well as with “The Teenagers” rock and roll band in the 60s. May precious memories comfort those who loved him. He will be missed.
He is survived by his sons, Mark and Doyle Townsend; his grandchildren, Jason Brett Townsend and Quinn Margaret Townsend; his siblings, Gary Townsend of Quesnel, BC, Greg Townsend of Lundbreck, AB, Elaine Kubik of High River, AB and Chuck Townsend of Coleman, AB; as well as his extended family and many friends, especially Sylvana Aschacher. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Emilie Townsend.
