It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Diane Hakze of Bellevue, AB on April 1, 2016 at the Pincher Creek Health Centre. She was 71 years of age.
Diane was born in Coleman, AB on March 27, 1945 to proud parents, Polly and Kenneth Snowdon. She was raised in a loving home and grew into a kind, caring young woman. A handsome gentleman, Tony Hakze noticed her grace and charm, and he soon won her heart. The happy couple married, and went on to raise a beautiful family and create wonderful memories together.
Diane was well known for her skill as a cook and baker, and she had impressive collections of both cookbooks and antique clocks. She also enjoyed playing bingo and tending to her multitude of houseplants, and found great happiness in the companionship of her beloved dogs. Above all else, Diane loved her family, and she cherished celebrating special moments with each of them. As a lifelong resident of the Crowsnest Pass, Diane had a positive impact on countless lives in the community, and they, along with her family, will fondly remember her always.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her devoted children, Mark Hakze of Bellevue, AB, Jennifer Hakze of Bellevue, AB and Sandy Hakze of Calgary, AB; her treasured grandson, Tony Bryce Hakze of Calgary; her brothers, Darryl (Judi) Snowdon and Kenneth Snowdon; her niece, Debbie (Brent) Ross and their son, Michael; as well as the many friends she made throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her husband, Antonius “Tony” Hakze; and her parents, Pollyanna and Kenneth Snowdon.
With respect for Diane’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Crowsnest Pass, S.P.C.A. (P. O. Box 725, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0). Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
