FISHER

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of DAVID LLOYD FISHER. David, who had been in poor health for some time, passed away peacefully in Blairmore on May 6, 2015 at the age of 79 with family by his side.

David was born on June 21, 1935, in Bellevue, Alberta, the fifth child of James and Jane Fisher. David was predeceased by his brothers William, Gordon, and Glynn and by his sister Mildred Daubney.

In 1954, he moved to Banff with his parents. David graduated from the Alberta College of Art, Calgary, where he received numerous awards and scholarships. His paintings reflect the mood of his mountain environment often featuring the enigmatic owl realistically depicted on one level of perception, yet impressionistic on another. His works displayed and sold in Banff, were eagerly sought by visitors and may be found in private collections the world over. David’s work was exhibited in many Canadian Nature Art exhibitions.

On retiring from Banff, David returned to Bellevue making his home on the very block where he lived as a child. He enjoyed his family and friend's visits, the garden and especially the birds. Some years ago David took up residence at the York Creek Lodge in Blairmore. Never complaining and always trying to look on the positive side of things, he continued his zest for learning.

Uncle, brother, friend, son, artist and just an amazing individual known for his warm heart.

Respecting David’s wishes there will be no service but we invite you to say a prayer in his memory.
