It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daryl Victor Belseck, formerly of the Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, who died unexpectedly in Kamloops, BC at the age of 52 years.
Daryl was born on February 5, 1962 in Yellowknife, NWT to Victor and Laura Belseck. As a child, he was inquisitive and very active with much devotion to his family and friends. He was a Cub Scout and enjoyed many hours playing hockey with his friends. He loved spending time with his family, especially during holiday gatherings. He truly enjoyed those precious moments playing with his younger brothers and, later, his niece and nephew, making them laugh with countless hours of games and fun.
Daryl had many talents and abilities that he developed later in life: he was an excellent mechanic and auto body technician; his knack with many things mechanical came naturally. He had a passion for muscle cars and performance trucks but also loved those quiet times building models and fishing the quiet streams of the Pass. He had wonderful experiences of joy and accomplishment in his life but he also was subjected to great hardship and strife. Almost twenty-two years ago, Daryl was the victim of a violent assault. His injuries resulted in severe damage to his brain that almost ended his life, and thereafter affected how he viewed and lived his life. His trials and health issues are now over, may he be remembered as a person of quality and compassion.
“Life is a gift that must be given back
and joy should arise from its possession.
It’s too damn short and that’s a fact!
Hard to accept this earthly procession
to final darkness is a journey done,
circle completed, work of art sublime,
a sweet melodic rhyme. A battle won.”
- the Book of Counted Sorrows.
He leaves to mourn his beloved mother, Laura Belseck; his sisters, Belinda Belseck and Denise Arcand; his brothers, Desmond (Kristen) Belseck and Clayton Belseck; his step-mother, Shirley (Guy) Livingston; and his niece Chandra and nephew Mathew. He was predeceased by his father, Victor Belseck; and his brothers, Ron Belseck and Mark Arcand.
A Graveside Ceremony will be held honouring his memory later this spring in the family section of the Coleman Union Cemetery. Donations in memory of the late Daryl Victor Belseck may be directed towards SABIS (Southern Alberta Brain Injury Society) at www.sabis.ab.ca.
