In loving memory
CATHERINE HASLAM
(1948-2012)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our precious mother, Cathy Haslam (nee: Duncan), who passed away on December 15, 2012 at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge at the age of 64 years.
Eleanor Catherine Haslam was born on July 7, 1948 in Lethbridge, Alberta to Jim and Eleanor Duncan. She and her five siblings learned to value the love of family, friendship and community. Cathy was always a hard-working woman with a charismatic character. She blossomed into a beautiful and graceful young lady who won the heart of a fine young gentleman, Charles Dwight Haslam, and on November 2, 1968, they pledged their love in marriage. Together with her two boys, Cathy made our community of the Crowsnest Pass her home. She dedicated herself to growing this area and watching it prosper. She educated and established herself as one of the lead Real Estate Agents in Alberta winning several awards and fulfilling many people’s dreams of owning their own home.
Cathy dedicated much of her time to worthy organizations and events throughout the area. She was a devoted member of the Royal Purple, the Coleman Legion’s Ladies Auxiliary, the Rescue Squad, a board member for the Crowsnest Centre, a Town Counselor for our municipality, a volunteer at Bagatelle and Mountain View Industries and a helping hand to anyone in need. She loved camping, traveling, her job, politics, her pampered pets, her comfy home on the “farm” and most especially her family. She is now absent from our lives but she will remain forever in our hearts. May she find peace and rest in her heavenly home.
She is survived by her loving sons, Kenneth James (Tara) Haslam of Blairmore and Darryl Bradley Dwight (Patricia) Haslam of Okotoks; her precious grandchildren, Dwight, Jordan, Samantha, Sydney, Austin and Alexandria; her siblings, Gladys Ondrus of Blairmore, James (Jane) Duncan of Lundbreck, Debbie (Andrew) Page of Cranbrook, Craig Duncan of Coleman and Mark (Shelley) Duncan of Lethbridge; her cherished nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family including her in-laws, Brad (Lori) Haslam of Calgary, Nicky (Robert) Fretts of Lethbridge, Margaret Haslam of Lethbridge and Debbie Haslam of Cardston; and her close and special friends, Lynn and Barry Earl of Slave Lake, Dr Margaret Utley of Fairmont, Edward Taje of Victoria and Marion Riviere of Blairmore. She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie; her parents, Jim and Eleanor; and her brother-in-law, Christopher Ondrus.
The ceremony honouring Cathy’s life was held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Blairmore Legion.
