It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Dennis Charbonneau on January 21, 2024, at his home in the Crowsnest Pass, AB, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
Left to mourn are his honey forever Jennifer Wiebe; his daughter Christine (Andrew) Letersky; grandchildren Bennett and Frances; his most beloved cat Sinatra; his brother Timothy (Janice); and nieces and nephews Daniel Charbonneau, Dominique Petruska, Jason Charbonneau, Jackie Frood, Jessica Pinkett and their spouses and children. He was born on August 4, 1954, in Dorval QC to the late Maj. Arnold James Charbonneau Sr. M.C. and Frances Eileen Charbonneau, and was predeceased by his older siblings Virginia Valerie Charbonneau and Arnold (Arnie) James Charbonneau Jr.
Brian moved to Alberta in 1972 to work at the Banff Springs Hotel and continued in the hospitality industry for almost 40 years, spending over 2 decades at the Highlander Hotel as a bartender, where he met the love of his life Jennifer in 1992. He then continued as a multi-unit franchise owner with Subway, and finally opening and operating Cha Cha’s Pizza and Pub. He then changed course to construction and building maintenance, operating Aerosweep and BriJen Property Services, until his retirement in 2016. He made many friends over the years, whether co-workers, customers, clients, neighbours, or just people he met while out for a walk. He always made an impression by being genuine, kind and loyal. He was a generous soul, and never hesitated to help both those he knew, and those he didn’t. He loved to ride anything with a motor and spent much time in his retirement riding his Harley, or quadding and sledding in the mountains he loved. A wonderful human being, gone far too soon, he will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Danish Canadian Club, 727 11th Avenue SW, Calgary, AB on February 17, 2024 at 2:00 pm. Donations in memory of Brian can be made to the MEOW Foundation or your local Food Bank. Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
