“Babe” Lynn Schmidt
(1946-2013)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of “Babe” Lynn Schmidt of Blairmore, Alberta who succumbed to cancer on April 16, 2013 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre at the age of 66 years.
Lynn Bruce Schmidt, affectionately known as “Babe” to his friends and family, was born on November 2, 1946 in Edmonton, AB to Earl & Violet Schmidt. He was always pleasant and modest of his many talents. A private and generous individual, he was more concerned for the well being of others. His gentlemanly character won the heart of a lovely young lady, Violet Hardy, and on August 21, 1976, they pledged their love in marriage.
Babe enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time in his “man-cave” and working on old cars. His greatest passion was for his family whom he cherished above all. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he will be forever in our hearts and live in our memories. His final wish for us would be to live life with appreciation for each day, do not dwell on sorrow, learn from the past and above all – hold tight to those you love.
He is survived by his loving wife, Violet Schmidt of Blairmore; his precious daughters, Cheryl (Norm) Ouellet of Coleman and Debbie Schmidt of Bellevue; his cherished grandchild, Austin Ouellet; his brother, Terry (Susan) Schmidt of Balfour, BC; his sister, Shelly (Doug) Kaiser of Pitt Meadows, BC; his in-laws, Mike (Toni) Hardy of Coleman, Jim (Cooky) Hardy of Hillcrest and Mark Hardy of Coleman; numerous nieces & nephews, extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Violet Schmidt in 2001; his father, Earl Schmidt in 2008; his father-in-law, William Hardy in 1987; his mother-in-law, Irene Hardy in 2008; and his brother-in-law, Steve Hardy in 2002.
