It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Albino “Nini” Peressini of Blairmore. Albino left this world peacefully at the Crowsnest Pass Long Term Care Center on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at the glorious age of 90.
Nini was born in Blairmore, Alberta on January 20, 1924 to Giacomo and Teresa Peressini. His family went to Italy for 5 years, but then returned to Blairmore. Nini proudly served his country in the second World War, seeing action throughout Europe. He returned to Canada and married the love of his life, Christine Bubniak in 1949. They spent 48 wonderful years together.
Throughout his lifetime, Nini worked in coal mining, construction, as a hotel manager, and as a camp manager in Hudson Hope, B.C. He was one of the original builders and operators of the Satellite Restaurant (Popiel’s) and then spent the last 20 years before retiring as a maintenance manager and ambulance driver for the Crowsnest Pass Hospital.
Nini loved to cook and barbecue and volunteered his time to local hockey clubs and other groups throughout the Pass. He was also a long time member of the Elks and Royal Canadian Legion. He enjoyed many hours fishing, golfing and tending to his special showcase; his beautiful yard and gardens.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his daughters, Jackie (Bill) Krywolt of Coleman, AB, Valerie (Norman) Ford of Sparwood, B.C. and Pat (William) Nagy of Lethbridge, AB; his sister, Clevia (Bill) Szoo of Ft. St. John, B.C.; his sisters-in-law, Rose (Gino) Quarin, and Irene (Doug) MacFarlane; his brother in-law, Sparky (Eleanor) Bubniak; five grandchildren, Darren Krywolt, Brent Krywolt, Matthew Ford, Craig Johnston, and Carmen Johnston Hibbard; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and the many friends he made during his lifetime.
