It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Aiwar Bleich who was called to be with the Lord on September 4, 2014 at the age of 77 years.

Aiwar was born on June 5, 1937 in Aizpute, Latvia to proud parents Albert & Marie Bleich. During his earlier years, he witnessed the atrocities of war, overcame hardship and acts of unkindness and through it all, Aiwar grew to appreciate life’s simpler pleasures, to live life to it’s fullest and adopt a positive attitude even until his final days on this earth. He was an amazing gentleman, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Aiwar was blessed with many talents and wonders in his life: he was gifted with music and could play almost any instrument, he obtained his pilot’s license and enjoyed soaring through the skies, he was an avid reader, loved fishing, golfing, traveling and taught ballroom dancing. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He had many passions in his life but his greatest was his family. Aiwar was devoted to a beautiful and charismatic woman, Eva, and they shared over thirty-one years together as husband and wife. Her passing in 2012 left his heart pining and we take comfort in knowing they are together once more awaiting the next dance in paradise.

He is survived by his step-daughter, Pauline (Derek) Breeze of Pincher Creek; his step-grandchildren, Tracy (Frank) Jenkins of Pincher Creek and Dean (Karla) Breeze of Pincher Creek; his step-great grandchildren, Dana (Cobie) Herr, Colby Jenkins, Ryley Jenkins, Daelan Breeze and Eva Breeze; his brother, Walter Bleich; his sisters, Irma (Gunter) Gosau, Livia (Gunter) Auerbach, Trudy (Rodney) Ingemoen and Anita (Dick) Sholdice; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved Eva Bleich in 2012; his father, Albert Bleich in 1971; his mother, Marie Bleich in 1983; his brothers, Sigmund in 2006, Viktor in 1993 and infant Herbert in 1933; his sister, Aria Sahlmueller in 1990; his sister-in-law, Gail Bleich in 2009; and his “Grandma Gum” in 1985.

With respect for Aiwar’s final wishes, no funeral services will be held. Interment occurred in the Fairview Cemetery in Pincher Creek. Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
