It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of Addia Fidenato at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre on March 14, 2016 at the glorious age of 91 years.
Addia was born in Pantianicco, Italy on June 19, 1924 to proud parents Ermenegildo and Teresa Cisilino. She grew into a lovely young woman who captured the heart of a charming gentleman, Giuseppe Fidenato. The couple wed on February 16, 1945, and Giuseppe immigrated to Canada in 1950 to partake in the many opportunities available for a hardworking man. Once settled in the Crowsnest Pass, he sent for his young family. Addia and Giuliana then arrived at their new home in May 1951 amid a spring snowstorm. Together, Addia and Giuseppe raised their family in a warm, loving home and created immeasurable precious memories.
Addia enjoyed many activities such as sewing and gardening. She lovingly tended her flowers and vegetables, giving special care to her treasured apple tree. Many neighbors (and deer!) enjoyed the fruits of her labour when the apples were ready to harvest. Addia was also an amazing cook, who often welcomed her daughters home from school with the delicious aroma of freshly baked bread or other tasty treats such as polenta. Addia found camaraderie with the members of the Bellecrest Senior Drop-In Centre, and had great fun exercising and visiting with her walking group, “The Recycled Teenagers”, of which she was the last surviving member. Walking was an important part of her life, and she made sure to fit it in whenever she could - even as recently as the week before her passing. Above all else, Addia cherished her family. She doted on her grandchildren and, in return, they adored her and would do anything for her. Addia believed strongly in the value of kindness and compassion, and showed both to everyone she encountered. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her daughters, Julie (Gordon) Bulloch of Calgary, AB, Rina (Randy) Ferraccioli of Calgary, AB and Giorgina (Paul) Clement of Edmonton, AB; her grandchildren, Jim Bulloch, Elysse Bulloch, Paul Ferraccioli and Christina Van den Bon; her extended family, as well as the many friends she made throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her husband, Giuesepe; her infant daughter, Luigina; and her parents, Ermenegildo and Teresa.
With respect for Addia’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the York Creek Lodge Residents Association (P. O. Box 1050, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0). Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
