Ken, Erin, Candy, and families. It was with deep regret that I heard about Maureen getting ill and passing away. We have been friends for 30 years and have many fond memories, Brass Cat, "Horse Racing", "lovely Linda", Drumheller, Yoho, Skiing, camping, New Years Eve extravaganza with fireworks, Blairmore, on and on.... I was glad to have a chance to visit her before she left us and visited with Ken and many family and friends I have met over the many years. She left lasting memories and loads of Good times and laughter. She will not be forgotten. Al

I had the honor of meeting and getting to know Maureen through Cecilia. In the few times we saw each, I could tell that Maureen was an absolute firecracker to be around with joy and love bursting out of her. Her personality was purely beautiful and her sense of friendship was undeniable. My condolences to all who loved her and celebrated her. She was one of a kind.

I was in school with Maureen at St Charles, Holy Name and St Mary's girls. We had some great times ,one of my fondest memories as well was skiing behind the camper van and jumping on the giant tractor tires in grade 9. My sympathy goes out to her family and friends. RIP Maureen Austin

My heartfelt sympathies Ken, Erin and Candy. Erin thank you so much for all your endearing emails these past few weeks, so full of love and kindness, Just like your mom.
Mo, my incredible friend for more than 15 years. I am blessed to of had you as my dear friend. You touched my life in a myriad of loving ways. Always supporting me, always telling to go for it, and that I could do anything I wanted to and probably would. As I was a strong one - well it takes one to know one my friend - you proved that over and over again. With such grace and dignity, right to your last day. Your advice, your stories, your insight to all that we talked and laughed about. I cherished them all. I loved you for all that and so much more. Mo, your spirit and zest for life was always felt, your honesty and sincerity was inspiring and your humour, well what can be said about that. It was as infectious as your laugh. You said that I inspire you, I say right back at ya! You are a mover and a shaker Mo, keep it up up there. We expect nothing less….

Our deep felt sympathy to Ken, Candy, Erin and the rest of Maureen's family.
Although we had lost touch with Maureen in recent years, we frequently reminisced about fun times and held Maureen close in our hearts and memories.
I especially remember vacations that Maureen and I took together when we were both single (camping on the beach in Penticton; staying with my aunt in Vancouver; running from the beach at Spanish Banks when the sea gulls got too close!) and all the wonderful times playing darts (not forgetting that the dart flights had to match the outfit!) and having fun at the Brass Cat!

I first met Maureen at St. Mary's Girls High School and have so many fond memories of those days. Just when I thought I was a happy carefree spirit along cam Maureen and topped that. She always lit up the room upon her arrival. We just re-connected through our reunion and continued with smaller group re-unions that followed. Funny thing how she still lit up the room when she arrived. I just know that same happy and carefree spirit is still lighting up the room. Goodbye "Mo" and rest now.

My deepest sympathies for Maureen's partner Ken, family & loved ones. I send you all strength & love through this difficult time. I met Maureen through work back in 2001 and from the get go it was easy to see what special & dynamic soul she was. I loved her spirit and sense of humor. Although we were out of touch for many years she was always thought of with much fondness. A couple of years back we reunited at a lunch date with mutual friends and it was so great to see her. She was blond, bold and a beautiful! After that we kept in touch & I looked forward to her comical emails and was always moved by her a caring ways. She had a great big heart and I will miss her very much! RIP Maureen, I'm sure you are having the best time on the other side!

I have known Maureen for over 30 years and we remained close friends for all that time. I met her in Calgary in the Brass Cat which she frequented and was the life of the party. Maureen was a great help to me in some difficult times, she was a sharing and selfless soul, I will never forget that. It was no surprise that she fought a dignified battle until the end. My condolences to Ken and all the family I have the pleasure of knowing through Maureen, I am thinking of you all through these sad times.

I have many memories of Maureen. We met in Grade 4 at St Charles then attended Holy Name & St Marys. In grade 9 her dad would take us to Happy Valley in his converted camper bus skiing. Then in the following 4 summers he'd drive us out in the bush where he set up camp for us and left us for a week. We had some wild and crazy times. Also going to the Stampede and the rides on the midway where she would scream her head off. I think I was one of the few who made it all 4 yrs. Rest in peace Maureen

My sincere condolences to all of Maureen's family and loved ones. I was a classmate of Maureen's in grade 10 at St. Mary's Girls High School. Even back then she was known for her witty comebacks and slight irreverence...we all loved her! I then reconnected with Maureen again 2 years ago at a small St. Mary's reunion. I recall wishing we had been in contact all those years because she was clearly the kind if woman you would want as a friend. Godspeed dear Maureen...I will cherish the memory of you and carry it in my heart.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. I considered Maureen a true friend and enjoyed each and every time we got together for our birthday suppers. I am so happy that Maureen and Ken stopped by to see me on their cross Canada trip. There were already lots of stories and they had only made it as far as Manitoba I can only imagine what fun and adventures they had for the rest of their trip , Maureen truly had a way of turning everything into a fun experience and will be missed by all of us who knew her.
