Laura Rona (Saftner) Belseck

   It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Laura Belseck on October 1, 2017 at the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre, Blairmore, AB.  She was 84 years of age.

   Laura was born in Waterways, AB on January 18, 1933 to loving parents Joseph and Florence Saftner.  One of nine children, she was raised with a great appreciation for family – a value she held dear throughout her entire life.  As a young woman, Laura met and fell in love with Victor Belseck.  The two wed and went on to raise three wonderful children, Ron, Daryl and Belinda.  The family made the Crowsnest Pass their home in the early 1970s, where they created countless happy memories together.

   When she wasn’t busy working at the York Creek Lodge or taking care of her family, Laura loved playing bingo and was well known as a talented knitter - she always had a project on the go.  Laura’s gentle heart and benevolent spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

   Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life is her devoted daughter, Belinda Belseck of Coleman, AB; her grandchildren, Mathew Yastremski of Calgary, AB and Chandra (Zac) Harris of Calgary, AB; her brother, Vernon Saftner of British Columbia; her extended family and many friends.

   She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Florence Saftner; her beloved sons, Ron Belseck and Daryl Belseck; her brothers, Lawrence, Bobby and Paul; her sisters, Dorothy, Elsie and Ella; as well as her twin sister, Nora.

   With respect for Laura’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation “Continuing Care” (P. O. Box 455, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0).  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
