It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jasmine Else Mitchell, formerly of the Crowsnest Pass, AB, who left this world on September 16, 2015 within her home in Calgary at the tender age of 35 years.
Jasmine was born on July 28, 1980 in Kitimat, BC to Sari and Steven Mitchell. She was raised to be an intelligent and determined individual who was blessed with many talents and abilities. She gained employment as a painter and was fond of crystals, tubing down the river, animals of every kind, occasionally exceeding the posted speed limit and her cuddly pets. She enjoyed many sports including skiing, hockey, both playing and coaching basketball, hiking and swimming. Jasmine had a soft, thoughtful side and loved to walk along the mountain streams or the beach collecting seashells and gazing out at the ocean. She enjoyed the company of friends and family roasting wieners and toasting the good times as well as the bad.
Our Jasmine knew laughter and love and experienced great sadness and sorrow. She silently battled depression and the vices we all have but kindness and compassion filled her heart and she was and always will be greatly loved and fondly remembered.
Left to celebrate her life and to mourn her death include her spouse, Lindsay Jayne Pressey; her son, Finn Green; her mother, Sari (Pierre) Carriere; her brother, Daniel Carriere; her niece, Trinity Carriere and Brooklyn Monroe Carriere-McCulloch; her uncle, Jan (Cathy) Laitinen; her aunt, Tiina (Danny) DeLisle; her cousins, Chris, Colby, Makyla and Kei-ann; as well as her extended family and many loyal friends who cherished her dearly.
She was predeceased by her father, Steven Mitchell; her grandparents, Betty Mitchell, Elsa Cholewka and Erkki Laitinen.
The Memorial Service honouring her life was held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10:00 am in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Blairmore with Doug DeLisle and Rev. Renso Castellarin officiating. The reception was graciously provided by the Greenhill Hotel.
