You don't know me or my family but we had the immense pleasure of meeting Hailey roughly 10 days prior to her passing.
Our son Zander and her played at the park in Coleman while we were taking a rest stop on our long drive from Whitefish to our home in Airdrie. They played together for about an hour. Tag, hide and seek and more.
Hailey was with her grandfather (Terry's dad I believe...a nice man with a French accent) and immediately became friends with our son Zander (3 at the time) while playing at the park (the one next to the pool).
Hailey was an outgoing, friendly and smart young girl and it was easy to see she was full of love and light.
My husband and I spent a good little while speaking with the grandfather making small talk. I'll never forget him mentioning that he lived in Elkford because my family has a holiday home there and you rarely meet people who live there. I also will never forget him mentioning that Hailey was a New Years Eve baby as we were comparing the kids' ages. The fact that Hailey was obviously so full of spark made sense when he mentioned she was born on a night associated with fireworks. I remember telling him that too.
Anyway- immediately upon hearing of the report of her missing I KNEW it was the girl we had met only a short week or so prior and my heart sank. Our family has been praying along side yours and sending you love and strength this whole time.
My son and your daughter were only one month apart and the thought of losing him makes me tremble. I can't imagine what you must deal with on a daily basis and even more so now with the trial and all the horrible details coming out.
Anyway- for what it's worth to you...,we pray for you all daily and think of you and that little sweetie SO MUCH.
Please know that little hailey is now at peace in the arms of The Lord.
We are lucky to have had the pleasure of meeting her although it was brief- we will never forget her.

We are a small group of grieving parents who have lost our children to illness, but want you to know how much our hearts are with you. The loss of a child is something that we all understand, regardless of the very different circumstances, and we extend our deepest compassion to you as you find your way without your little Hailey. We hope that special memories will carry you and give you strength as the world moves on around you. She will not be forgotten, even by others like us who did not have the good fortune to know her. Her light will not go out as long as you remember her.

Albeit I did not know them both. Their tragic passing has paralyzed me and shaken my faith in humanity. There isn't a time during the day I don't say I love you to my children and granddaughter without thinking of Hailey. I hope there is something after this life as they are both deserving of something greater than of their fate . For what years I have left I will think of of this tragedy as a reminder that each day is special ..they are missed and will be remembered. I am truly saddened of their passing. No words could ever express our feelings towards everyone involved in this tragedy. Our hearts are with you, and our lives have been so touched by this. Please know that even people who don't know any of you in real life wish to take your pain away. We can't do that. We just know that time will eventually make things somewhat more bearable and one day you will all find that little glimmer of sunshine thru all of this. I've lost a best friend when he was much too young, far too tragically, but I still can't imagine the pain of what you're feeling. 5 years later, I realize that pain has taught me to treasure what I have been given in life. My two beautiful son's. Life isn't easy, but if you stick together, you will be okay. Lean on each other, cry together, and celebrate the great memories you've shared. Don't worry about all the negative things people have to say. Nothing positive comes from anything negative. As you are surely aware, life can be much too short. Focus on the positive, no matter how small the positive might be. Spread love, and let Hailey and Terry watch over you, smiling from above.
