Maureen Isabelle Austin

   It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maureen Isabelle Austin of Coleman, AB on May 5, 2016 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre.  She passed away peacefully while surrounded by the love of her devoted family.  For 64 years Maureen enjoyed a rewarding and fulfilling life.

  Maureen was born on September 28, 1951 in Calgary, AB to proud parents, Maurice and Clare Austin.  She was a blessing to so many throughout her life. She epitomized strong values, enthusiasm, meticulous attention to detail in her work and life and a compassionate yet feisty nature that made her so endearing to us all.

   Maureen was a creative and intelligent young woman who raised her children with pride and love. In later years she captured the heart of Kenneth Petersen.   They have both been blessed with children and grandchildren, and an abundance of friends.  Maureen loved decorating, creating crafts like pottery, ceramics & origami, entertaining, cooking and never would of needed to refer to something like Pinterest, as she had all those ideas in her own head.  She made no apologies for her strong-minded, dynamic personality and respected every single person's right to live on their own terms. She truly lived life to the fullest.  She shall be forever fondly remembered and so dearly missed.   

    Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her spouse, Kenneth Petersen; their children, Candy (Koman), Erin (Grant), Shelley (John), Susan (Darwin) and Cory (Katherine); and grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Lucas, Myriah, Kaden and Keidric; her siblings, Nadine Austin and Lincoln (Brenda) Austin; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family; as well as the countless friends she inspired throughout her lifetime.

   A Celebration of Life will be held at Leyden’s Funeral Home (304-18 Avenue SW) in Calgary, AB on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 1:00 pm and on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Coleman Sports Complex (8702-22 Avenue), Crowsnest Pass, AB at 2:00 pm.  

   Donations in memory of Maureen may be directed to your local food bank.      Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
