With sadness we announce the passing of Thomas “Tom” Tracey McEwan on January 3, 2026 at the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre, Blairmore, AB. He was 92 years of age.
Tom was born in Alloa, Scotland on September 30, 1933 and came to Canada in 1979. Throughout his life, he proudly served in the British Army, worked in the building trade, then, in Canada, he was employed by Fording Coal as a tireman until his retirement.
Tom appreciated the simple pleasures of life. Reading, watching sports on tv, going camping, and spending time with his beloved dog, Buddy – he enjoyed them all. His was a life well-lived and will be remembered with love and respect.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his brother, Duncan (Iris) McEwan of Hillcrest Mines, AB; his nephew, Paul (Andrea) McEwan of Delta, BC; as well as his nieces and nephews in Scotland.
He was predeceased by his parents, Catherine and Duncan McEwan; his brother, Sammy; his sisters, Nancy and Cathy; and his nephew, Kevin.
Tom’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for the care he received at emergency, the hospital and at Continuing Care.
With respect for Tom’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (www.heartandstroke.ca). Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
