Ronald Winder Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Winder on April 23, 2023 at the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre, Blairmore, AB.  He was 76 years of age.

Ron was born in Hamilton, ON to parents, Ronald Sr. and Annie Winder.  He matured into a hardworking young man who went on to have a life-long career as a truck driver.  Ron met the love of his life, Agnes Sanders in 1972 and after only two days they knew that they were meant to be together forever.  They started living together right away, then after thirteen years, they made it official and married in 1985.  Ron often joked about how he had to “try out the merchandise”.  The happy couple settled in the Crowsnest Pass in 1987.  Here, they raised their children and made many lasting friendships.

When he wasn’t busy providing for his family, Ron enjoyed watching movies, reading westerns and playing crib.  As an avid outdoorsman, he also loved going camping, fishing, hunting, reloading bullets, shooting his bow, and cutting wood.  Ron lived a good life surrounded by a loving family and good friends.  May they take comfort in precious memories and in knowing that he will live on in their hearts.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his children, Patti Dodds, Ronnie (Michelle) Winder, Christine Day and Gordon Dodds; his grandchildren, Jonathan (Brooklin) Day, Michael Day and Kaity Winder; his great-grandchild, Ember Day; his brother, Gary (Irene) Winder; as well as his extended family and many friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes Winder; his mother, Annie Winder; his father, Ronald Winder Sr.; his great-grandson, Colt Day; and his son-in-law, John Day.

Ron’s family will be holding a Memorial Service at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the MS Society of Canada (www.mssociety.ca), or the Kidney Foundation of Canada (www.kidney.ca).  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
