Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Mary Mountford (Née: Wilson) of Crowsnest Pass, AB on April 14, 2022 at the glorious age of 84 years.

Patricia was born on August 18, 1937 in Nottingham, UK to proud parents George and Maisie Wilson.  One of seven children, she was raised with a strong sense of pride and well being for her family.  She soon blossomed into an elegant young lady who captured the heart of a dashing young man, Dennis Mountford and they were wed in holy matrimony on March 12, 1955.

Dennis and Patricia immigrated to Grande Cache, Canada on Thanksgiving Day 1970 in search of a secure and prosperous life for their family.  In 1973 the family made the move to Crowsnest Pass which became “home”.

Patricia was a member of the Blairmore Library, the Royal Canadian Legion BR #7, served as a Girl Guide Leader and volunteer for several community events mostly involving her family.  Although she appreciated precious moments spent in the warm sunshine with a good book, she also enjoyed knitting as well as playing darts and cribbage, her most celebrated moments were spent with her family.  Patricia adored her children and was a proud “Mammar” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Those who knew her will forever love and fondly remember her.

Patricia is survived by her children, Deborah (Wes) Ostrensky of Blairmore, Clive Mountford of Priddis and Cathy (Cory) Smith of Coleman; her grandchildren, Marc Ostrensky, Patrick Mountford and Kylie Mountford; her great grandchildren, Blayke, Jaidyn, Hudson and Elyza; her siblings, Derek (Shirley) Wilson, Freda Staley and Pamela (Mick) Leigh; numerous nieces, nephews and her extended family.  She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis Mountford; her parents, George Wilson and Maisie Browitt; her siblings, Trevor Wilson, Janet Hofton and Baby Margaret; and her stepfather, George Browitt.

A private family graveside service will be held later this summer to honor Patricia’s life and lay her to rest in the family gravesite.  Memorial donations may be directed to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (www.kidney.ca).  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
