Michelle Dobek-Koinberg Obituary

With incredible sadness we announce the passing of Michelle Renee Dobek-Koinberg on June 23, 2026.  She was 63 years of age.

Michelle was born on February 26, 1963, in Blairmore, AB to Joe and Anne Dobek.  She lived a life defined by family, laughter, faith and service to others, and had an extraordinary gift for making people smile.  She was well known for her infectious laugh, her ability to bring joy to every gathering, and unforgettable April Fool's Day jokes.  She cherished holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas, and delighted in entertaining family and friends. Christmas carolling in the trailer was one of her greatest joys, and she had a special talent for encouraging everyone around her to join in the fun.

A gifted musician with a beautiful singing voice, Michelle played both the piano and guitar. Her heartfelt rendition of "Ave Maria" brought comfort to countless families, as she was often asked to sing it at funeral services.  Michelle's faith in God was unwavering and guided every aspect of her life.  She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, an active member of the Catholic Women's League, and a dedicated choir member.  Her faith was reflected not only in worship but in the kindness, generosity, and compassion she extended to everyone she met.  For thirty-five years, Michelle embraced sobriety. She was deeply involved in the local Twelve-Step Program, offering encouragement, and understanding to those walking the same path.

Michelle found peace and happiness in the outdoors. She loved walking her dogs, camping, skiing, hiking, and running, finding beauty in God's creation wherever she went. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed scrapbooking to preserve precious memories, and shopping for clothes with enthusiasm and style.  Above all else, Michelle loved unconditionally.  Her family and friends were the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them.  Her beloved pets also held a special place in her heart and were cared for with the same tenderness she showed everyone around her.

Michelle had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, welcomed, and loved, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.  She will be remembered for her generous heart, her joyful spirit, her unwavering faith, and her ability to bring light to life's most difficult moments.  May we gain comfort from knowing that she is now resting in the peace and eternal joy of God's loving embrace.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life is her husband, Douglas Koinberg; her children, Kelly Jo Michalski, Brent (J-Lean) Koinberg and Shane (Amber) Koinberg; her grandchildren, Justice, Kayden, Simone, Hayden, Bodhi, Gage and Ryder; her siblings, Denise (Doug) McCracken, Bonnie-Jean (Gordon) Marconi and Barry Dobek; as well as her extended family and many close friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Anne and Joseph Dobek, and her sister, Rachel Dobek.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, July 3, 2026, and a Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 4, 2026, both at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Parish (13126 – 21 Ave., Blairmore, AB) with Fr.
