Maxwell McLain Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maxwell Isaac McLain on February 19, 2026, at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre, Blairmore, AB.  He was 69 years of age.

Max was born on October 4, 1956, in Tillsonburg, ON.  On July 23, 1977, he married the love of his life, Teresa Pakla.  That same year, they made their home in the Crowsnest Pass, AB where they built a life grounded in love and community.  Together, they shared forty-nine wonderful years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering partnership.

A hardworking and family-oriented man, Max was known for his incredible sense of humour and his natural ability to make others smile.  He took pride in providing for his family and found his greatest joy in the time he spent with them—especially his beloved grandchildren.  Above all, he treasured every moment with Teresa, his constant companion and greatest love.

Max enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: fishing, camping, playing crib and darts, watching hockey and classic westerns, and listening to and singing along with the oldies.  Another of his many talents and hobbies was fixing vehicles.  Max would beam with pride when he could help his children and grandchildren solve endless mechanical mysteries.  He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, where he valued fellowship, faith, and service.  Max will be forever remembered for his warmth, humour, and generous spirit.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his wife, Teresa; his children, Daniel McLain of Blairmore, Amanda McLain of Pincher Creek, AB, Vicki (Davin) Byrne of Lethbridge, AB, Hanna (Dominic) Traversano of Brooks, AB and Selena McLain of Blairmore, AB; his grandchildren, Brittney, Savanah, Noah, Myiah, Adessa, Bentley, Caileigh, Brennan, Dawson, Alexxa, Jaxxson and Dakotah; his great-grandchildren, Tahlia, Kase and Charli; his brother, Edward (Paulette) McLain of Alberta; his sisters, Sharon Woolley and Irene Ashford, both of Ontario; as well as his extended family and many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Betty and Henry McLain; his granddaughter, Andraya Traversano; his brother, Bill McLain; his sister, Nancy Gero; and his grandmother, Ruth McLain.

A Funeral Mass will begin at noon on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Parish (13126 – 21 Ave., Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0) with Fr. Joseph Nagathu as Celebrant.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Parish Building Fund (PO Box 1410 Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0).  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
