It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Douglas Koentges. Mark was born on May 9, 1983, in Blairmore, AB and passed away unexpectedly on April 27, 2025, in Hillcrest, AB.
He will be sadly missed by his mother Barb (Gordon) Rigney; his sister Lyndsey (Wesley) Spring; his nephew Jack and his niece Sunny; his grandfather Dick (Kathy) Koentges; his grandmother Beryl Koentges; his grandmother Pat Munro; his uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Mark was predeceased by his father Doug Koentges; his grandfather Gordon Munro; and his uncle John Munro.
Mark spent the majority of his life in the Crowsnest Pass and was a “Pass Boy” through and through. He played minor hockey in his youth, loved the outdoors, camping and 4-wheeling. Fishing was where Mark was at his happiest and he was a great fisherman of both lakes and streams around this area. A loyal and devoted Chevy man, Mark could often be found working on his Chevy trucks. He was an awesome dad to his many fur babies over the years and will be remembered for always having his dog by his side.
A private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Crowsnest Pass SPCA. (PO Box 725 Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0), or the Alberta Fish and Game Association (www.afga.org). Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
