With heavy hearts we announce that John “Jack” Howard Morley passed away on April 28, 2026. He was 79 years of age.
Jack was a proud owner and operator of a commercial roofing company, where he built not only a successful business, but lasting relationships grounded in trust and integrity. Known for his strong-minded nature, he approached life with determination.
A dedicated member of the Coleman Legion, Jack served on the Executive for 15 years. He gave countless hours volunteering—whether mowing the lawn or booking musicians—helping to create a welcoming place for the community. His love of live music and dancing was well known, and he brought energy and joy wherever he went.
Jack had a passion for the open road and cherished riding his Harley, including an unforgettable tour of Australia. He earned the nickname “The King of Marda Loop,” a testament to his larger-than-life presence and the many friendships he formed over the years. He was a devoted supporter of the Calgary Flames and the Green Bay Packers, always ready to cheer on his teams and share the excitement with those around him.
Above all, Jack will be remembered as kind, generous, and loving—a man who showed up for others and lived life fully. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his wife, Shannon Brett; his sons, Chad Morley, Ryan Morley and their mother, Kit Crocker; his granddaughter, Scarlett Morley; his siblings, Frank, Francis, Alan and Ruth; his “ride or dies”, Mik, Harpo, Jimmy “Juice” (Christine), George, Melody (Russell) and Brendan (Susan); as well as his extended family and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Irene and John Morley.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the Coleman Legion (7831 – 17 Ave., Coleman, AB), and at The Blues Can (2002 – 16 Ave. NW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 9, Coleman (PO Box 448 Coleman, AB T0K 0M0).
