Jeanie Elizabeth (Fisher) Shafer

It is with sadness we announce that Jeanie Shafer, 96, of Bellevue, AB passed away at the Pincher Creek Health Centre on March 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Jeanie was born in 1929 and dedicated her life to her family and community. She was a devoted wife to her late husband Mervin, whom she married in 1950. Throughout her years, Jeanie was a beloved elementary school teacher, touching the lives of countless students with her kindness and passion for education.

An active and vibrant woman, Jeanie enjoyed numerous hobbies including reading, camping, fishing, bowling, knitting, and playing bingo. Her crafting skills and love for family activities were well-known among her loved ones.

She is survived by her sons, Roy (Kerry) and Wayne (Irene); her special granddaughter, Katrina; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Jerry. Jeanie was predeceased by her husband, Mervin; daughter, Dalyce; great-grandson Matteo; her parents; and two brothers.

Jeanie will be remembered for her unwavering love, her generous spirit, and the warmth she brought to everyone she met.

A celebration of Jeanie's life will begin at 1:00pm on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Bellevue Legion (2401 - 213 St., Bellevue, AB).  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to MatteoShaferLegacy.com or the charity of your choice.  Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
