Jean Edmunds Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of Jean Marina Edmunds on October 14, 2025.

Jean is survived by her sons, Alan (Kathryn) of Ontario, Terry (Nancy) of Fort MacMurray, and her baby boy John (Tina) of the Crowsnest Pass; her grandchildren, Andrea (Peter) Leask, Lindsey (Dave) Hummel, Nicholas Edmunds, Warren Edmunds, Sheldon Edmunds; her great-grandchildren,  James and Lena Hummel; and her sister, Linda Burton of Bournemouth, England.

After 57 years of marriage, Jean said goodbye to her beloved husband Ronald Edmunds in 2012. She was also predeceased by her parents, Albert & May Pritchard; her aunt and uncle who raised her, John & Mabel Hollis; her son, Ronnie Edmunds; her daughter-in-law, Gail Edmunds; and her brother-in-law, Mike Burton.

Jean, born in London, England in 1934 and during WWII, was one of 1.5 million children who were evacuated from the city during the Battle of Britain. Sadly, her parents died in the blitz, and she went to live with her aunt & uncle. When Jean met the love of her life, Ron Edmunds, they married in 1955 and moved to Canada in 1957, raising their four boys in the small mining community of Schefferville, QB. Working in the mining industry for their entire careers, Jean & Ron settled in Fort MacMurray, AB and eventually retired in the Crowsnest Pass, AB. They spent many of their retirement years as snowbirds, living in Yuma, Arizona during the winter. Jean & Ron had many lifelong friends and found community wherever they lived.

Jean spent her later years in Whispering Winds Village in Pincher Creek, AB and Peaks to Pines Senior Lodge in Coleman, AB. She had a love of crafts and knitting and organized craft nights at the lodge. Her family would like to send their thanks and love to all the caregivers she had and the medical staff at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre. Despite her aging memory, Jean kept her wit and humor right until the end and was loved by many. As she said during her last days “Give everyone my love”.

With respect for Jean’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
