Irene Reno Obituary

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Irene Jean Reno on November 28, 2025, in Lethbridge, Alberta. She was 92 years of age.

Irene was born on August 27, 1933, in Camrose, Alberta, and raised by parents Matthew and Mary Glover in Banff, Alberta. Her life was enriched by music from an early age, and she became a classically trained singer. On October 31, 1955, Irene married her soulmate, Michael Reno. They made the Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, their home in 1968, and together they built a wonderful life and raised a happy family. Irene embraced the beauty of the mountains and found great joy spending time outdoors, especially in the stunning landscapes of Banff, a place she cherished.

Irene was a woman of many talents. She loved sewing, gardening, and tending to flowers, finding peace and purpose in nurturing life around her. A devoted Blue Jays fan, she rarely missed a game and cheered wholeheartedly for her team. Her deep affection for animals and genuine warmth toward people were hallmarks of her character; she offered kindness freely and left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Irene was a very curious and optimistic person. She enthusiastically lived her life and was able to be “saturated in every moment”. Irene will be remembered for her grace, her creativity, her unwavering love, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her children, Kathy (Kevin) Schmunk of Bergen, AB, Michael (Bernadine) Reno of Red Deer, AB, Steve (Angie) Reno of Calgary, AB and Mark (Ladine) Reno of Crowsnest Pass, AB; her grandchildren, Stephanie Reno, Anthony (Justine) Reno, Eric (Miranda) Reno, Amy (JD) Stricklin, Evan (Rachel) Reno, Lori (Josh) Scholpp and Gary (Roxanne) Veldman; her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jasper, Clark, Lincoln, Eric, Landon, Ryder, Benjamin and Kourtney; her sister, Joan Cameron of Medicine Hat, AB; her extended family and many friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael Reno; her parents, Matthew and Mary Glover; her biological mother, Elizabeth Knott; her brothers, William and Robert; her sister, Margaret Tweety; and her parents-in-law, Stephan and Francis Reno.

Heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Crowsnest Pass Health Centre and Chinook Regional Hospital ICU for taking such good care of Mom.
